Our clients range from large private gardens to some commercial grounds in and around Bristol and surrounding areas.

Here are the job descriptions for our Gardener and Senior Gardener positions:

Gardener:

You must have at least the following attributes to be considered for an interview/trial day:

  • Basic plant knowledge including pruning techniques

  • Some experience using gardening machinery in a professional setting

  • A positive, enthusiastic attitude and a customer friendly manner

  • Full UK driving license and your own transport

  • Horticultural qualifications are an advantage, however, someone with professional experience working in high end gardens who understands the importance of attention to detail would also be well suited

Main duties:

  • All aspects of garden maintenance (mowing, weeding, pruning etc)

  • Keeping company van tidy and well organised

  • Daily cleaning and basic maintenance and storage of company tools


Senior Gardener:

You must have at least the following attributes to be considered for an interview/trial day:

  • 3 years professional gardening experience

  • RHS level 2 and/or equivalent City & guilds horticultural qualifications

  • Experience of personal customer service and staff management

  • Full UK driving license and your own transport

Main duties:

  • All aspects of garden maintenance (mowing, weeding, pruning etc)

  • Quality control – Senior Gardeners are responsible for the overall quality of work

    when a job is complete.

  • Main point of contact for clients, when onsite – Senior Gardeners take the lead with

    knocking on clients’ doors, discussing the days tasks, signing off when leaving etc.

  • Daily responsibility for prioritising, choosing and allocating the days tasks required

    onsite (unless directed of specific tasks by client).

  • Timekeeping – Ensuring the correct amount of time is spent at each job. For example, allowing time for traffic when travelling to and from jobs; ensuring enough time is allocated for clearing up etc

  • Sickness - Gardeners are initially required to report to Senior Gardeners when they are unable to work. Senior Gardeners are responsible for passing on this information to the line manager(s).

  • General team contact - Senior Gardeners must be reliably reachable via phone and are expected to have a regular presence/engagement in WhatsApp group chats and at team meetings.

  • Daily updating of shared calendar - this may include adding notes (for example a client’s specific request for next visit etc).

  • Daily reporting to line manager(s) for debrief of the day (message or phone call) including taking photographs to document work that has been completed.

  • Mentoring, encouraging and supporting work partners – Sharing and developing relevant knowledge required by the gardeners (for example, plant names, tool maintenance, client specific quirks etc)
